No, it's the chickens the mm raised from eggs with 4H. Two of them are roosters and roosters aren't allowed in the village. Now I have to find a home for them or surreptitiously kill them and get them in the freezer w/o the mm finding out. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment to get all into a wintertime butcher project.

The roosters are incredibly loud and contrary to TV cartoon wisdom, the crow all the time, even 3 am. I suspect it has to do with the streetlights imitating dawn.

And on top of it the ZEO got on my case about fence setbacks for the chicken run. I pointed out it was my garden fence and the chickens were using the garden FTTB.

What a hassle. Sorry man.

Why do you have to get the roosters in the freezer? Can't you just kill them and throw them away?

I suppose I could, it's my Scottish genes that cry out in horror at the waste.

It's a hard thing to let go of but would be a simple life improvement.

I understand, but sometimes you have to do a little calculation that includes time and hassle. Two roosters are what, about $15 worth of meat? And you're going to go through all that slaughtering, and plucking, and cleaning, out in the freezing cold just to save $15 worth of meat?

Kill the cocks, drive around an find a couple of hungry farm dogs. No roosters and no wasted meat.

Fuck no. I'm just sharing my neuroses.

They're gonna go to "Rooster Camp"

What might be making me a tad apprehensive, but might not, as it's too soon to tell?

My finger.

I injured it almost a month ago. The index finger on my dominant hand doesn't move away from the middle finger with any strength at all.

I overtaxed it during a night of rope climbing with the Scouts. I spent hours belaying others, and while holding the rope tightly for hours on end, making sure they didn't fall to their deaths, I started to feel a mild burning sensation between my thumb and index finger. That finger hasn't worked right ever since. No numbness at all. All the sensations are there, it just doesn't move in one specific direction. It feels fine though. No pain.

I finally got around to seeing a doctor this morning, for a routine physical, and asked him about it. He confirmed that it was fucked up and gave me the names of some specialists.

I had switched to a very high deductible insurance plan a year ago to save money on outrageously expensive premiums, and I'm almost certain that this will not be covered by insurance until I meet that $3k deductible.

So I'm a tad apprehensive that I might need surgery followed by a long recovery with an immobilized dominant hand, and that it will cost a lot.

But it's too soon to tell.

you're contributing to an HSA though, aren't you? You can spend that money on the cost of care.

I'm apprehensive because a year long goal is coming down to the wire.

I aimed to hit $1million in gross profit across my desk for the year. I'm at $993,493 at this moment with maybe 10 more deals to go. I average $794 per deal for the year, so IF these last 10 deals are average, I'll hit it. if they are weak (which is more likely for the end of December deals) I may JUST miss it.

nothing riding on it other than bragging rights, but I'd hate to come up >< this close and miss it.
