Wolf , you know perfectly well that I would not drink Coca Cola in a flying fit , and whilst I may enjoy dragging on fags , the packet is called Gauloises . And FUMER TUE .
And Wolf , you are a free thinker . I like you . I think you are lovely . I had hoped that Undertoad and I shared the common ground of free-thinking people . BUT ......he makes many mistakes , for he sometimes CLUTCHES at the concept of being American instead of thinking . When he thinks , I am always interested . He has a fine mind . He just has to stop being influenced , and cluttered up . |

Well I'm intelligent enough to listen to and watch that video, then take what I want and leave the rest. The underlying message is that the beauty of advertising and the media is artificial. Therefore, it is impossible for the average young woman to measure up to this 'manufactured' beauty. I don't care what they're selling, the basis for that film is a good one.
As a mother trying to encourage healthy self-esteem and self-image in her daughters, I am constantly battling the distorted idea of beauty as presented by the media. Young girls are bombarded with images of beautiful, thin, sassy, expensively attired young women in magazines, television and movies. Often, they perceive this to be more important than inner beauty and character. I wonder if Buddug went any further into that site than watching (and sneering at) the video. I see my beautiful nieces and hope they realize their beauty within as they grow up. My brother and sister-in-law are amazing, and if anyone has a chance at good self-esteem it is those girls...but you can't block what culture bombards you with at every billboard, every commercial, every movie, every magazine. I already see a sharp sensitivity in the oldest (6 years old) that hits way too close to home. I wish I could shield her from that kind of pain, but I know all I can do is everything I can do to help her see what a wonderful person she is...inside and out. Edited to add: the "model" was totally cute before they turned her into a barbie, btw.

I miss Buddug. I haven't had my culture disparaged or my intelligence shat upon for several days now, and I'm getting a little desperate. Someone call me an Ugly American, please!
BTW...is her last name "Li"?
