Been in New Orleans for a few days and checked out one of the old cemeteries. Then I went to the Chalmette National Battlefield and Cemetery where the battle that ended the War of 1812 happened.
USCT stands for US Colored Troops who were free men of color as they refer to them. Maybe this guy was born in January??? From about 1864 to 1966 a small black community thrived there but the US parks department forced them to sell their land for the park with the help of the local politician who wanted to lower the power of black voters by removing them. So where did they go? The Ninth Ward. Sucks... |

I really like your use of depth of field in the first headstone shot. Black and white worked out really well there too showing off the textures and contrast. Nice stuff.

Northeast PA, there are lives tucked into every valley. The Appalachian Trail runs along the far ridge.

Chris' post #1096, the B&W angel ... does she come to life every Mardi Gras to earn those beads?

He proposed.
Since he treats me like a princess, he bought me a ring that looks like a crown.

my 2 1/2 yo granddaughter at the Camden aquarium this weekend. The funny part is this picture is a complete accident.
Although it looks like it is either posed or she is reacting to the shark - it is neither. She was saying CHEESE really loud and she happened to look back just at the moment the shutter clicked. Funniest part - when I showed her the pic. she said "that's cute" in a very cute 2 YO voice Last edited by Jacquelita; 10-12-2010 at 09:48 PM. |
