There are so many things out there that are annoying most of the time, but that have legitimate uses some of the time.

Like Jet-Skis. Good for life guards, annoying when most others use them.

Rubber cement is essential. Without it, how would we burn snow?

Now, anything promoted by Ron Popiel ... there's your problem. The conflation of apparent usefulness and planned obsolescence was sheer genius. I've known a couple of people to sing the praises of the Pocket Fisherman, but other than that ... spray hair, the record vacuum, that thing that you could cut the tops off bottles with to make drinking glasses out of ...

That one was brilliant, wasn't it,since it's so terribly hard to scramble an egg in the pan.

Don't take this as a lack of appreciation of As Seen on TV products on my part. I have many that I like (SnapCaps, the EZFold, etc.), but also many that I know to be worthless labor-causing devices. Ever try to clean an EggWave?

One thing the in-shell scrambler didn't change from traditional in-pan egg scrambling was the somewhat reasonable chance of getting bits of shell in your eggs.

Don't forget the microwave hard-boiled egg things...They're not too hot for making dressed/deviled eggs.

One other use for them...fill 'em with water, pop 'em in the freezer for big ice cubes.

Krispy Kreme donuts.

They're just too irresistable.

Got one. The gadget does work. Turns a boiled egg, after processing, into an evenly cream-yellow ovoid what's-that. Whiz it up first, then boil egg.

And it would make it less obvious you were using the lazy-woman technique to make omelets, scrambling the eggs inside the pan -- since you're not.

To things I wish weren't invented:

Socialism, Marxist or other brand.

Spellcheckers. They are inadequate. I need the entire OED wordlist and downloaded updates, and one that doesn't favor hyphenated constructions over compound words, but replaces the former with the latter. So I generally turn off both these and autocorrect. Even if damnyouautocorrect is a funny site.
