We had the same weather over here, but luckily no one that I know of lost power. On Tuesday the high was 72 degrees, then on Wednesday the high was 45 in the morning, and after noon it dropped to 10 degrees. SO most of the day we had a -4 wind chill weather. That was a shock to the system, let me tell you!
We got the snow Wednesday night/Thursday morning. They predicted 4-12 inches before the day was over. It took me 2 1/2 hours yesterday to get to work and one other place (normally it would take about 45 minutes) because the snow was so thick and I just couldn't see and I kept fishtailing when I went above 15 mph. Makes me wish I had a 4x4. LOL

One Word:
Chicago
Mayoral elections are won and lost based on how the city deals with snow. The winter of 93/94 was a killer. 85% of Lake Michigan froze solid. Now that I'm here in the ATL, I miss such winter weather.

Try toasting your key over a Bic Lighter. I had a car where the locks never froze, but the latch on the door would ... you could open it, but closing it again required warming the bare metal of the latch with my hand for 5-10 minutes.

Holy crap! Winter arrived in DC today! A couple of days ago, it was 70, and now they're talking snow.

No kidding. It was a surprise too. I needed a hat and gloves for my walk to the metro, but I didn't realize it until it was too late. It's a hard, cold wind blowing out there.

It was low 60's here the day before we got the ice, which was the day before we got the snow.
