While I was at it, I decided to measure that beast -- 18 inches long and almost 5 inches in diameter! Damn, I've got to find out what kind of fertilizer does this.

(Yes, I know there will be all kinds of interpretations of that statement.)

Just a little envelope is fine. I think I have a straw around here somewhere.

LJ will say "Fetch me a beer, woman," and be promptly rendered unconscious.

Of course they did, everyone who grows them is looking to give them away. Nobody actually grows them to eat, just to throw at their neighbor trying to borrow the mower.

I love them grilled - but not when they get big like that.

Oh, and since this thing is too big to throw without risking a homicide charge, he had to bring it to work. Now I get it.

my mom used to grow zukes that big. they'r fookin nasty. only thing theyre good for at that point is zucchini bread. cut em when theyre cuke sized, split em length wise, douse them in olive oil, salt and pepper, and grill them into submission. and then they're tolerable at best. i prefer yellow squash done that way. they take forever, so start them 15-20 minutes before the meat.

Jim, if you start them at the same time as everything else, you can claim to be to full by the time they are done.

I'm glad you and jinx said that. It's a crime to let a zucchini grow that big. They should be picked when they are 6 to 8 inches long. Otherwise they get too tough.
