When last I was over, the little prick sprayed right in her foyer. Seems like a deal breaker to me, and possibly the reason he found himself homeless to begin with. I will see her tonight, and find out if that behavior has continued. His name may end up being Mud.

Well, if the poor creature isn't spayed, then spraying is de rigeur.
I would only ever let a neutered male (cat) into my house, stray or otherwise.

She just spent a bunch of money doing that and getting his shots. Because of his small size, she thought he was 9 or 10 months old. vet said 1.5 years when she picked him back up after his visit.
If a cat learns to spray before spaying, I think they continue even after. worried.

Sadly that can be true. It's less pungent though.
And many young cats will grow out of it once they feel safe. Bless her to the max for sorting him out. Whether he stays with her (best case) or finds another home, at least there will be no unwanted kitties from his loins.

Maybe you can take him to Goodwill and find you a nice cat at Tiffany's?

Has anybody suggested "Sugar Tits" yet?

I'm not a cat owner, but I have friends who are. As I understand it it is often associated with anxiety and stress. And dislocation as well. It's probably something that will stop when he feels settled. The trouble is that in the meantime, how is he going to become settled if each time he moves, he sprays and is moved on?
Might be worth a phonecall to an animal behaviourist for advice.

Our male cat (who was neutered early) does it very occasionally. We think it's when a threatening animal comes up to the patio door/sliding door/doorwall and says "Ohai!"

Hopefully, thats all it is...stress. It was when he was first out among the other two cats, and checking out the new environment.... Fingers crossed.
