That DVD came out last summer, and its from the 2001 "Exciter" tour.

And yes, they're still playing/recording.

Best concert dvd? That's a tough one. But I know which one is my newest:

Shine A Light. It's awesome!

Come on peeps, the best concert film is clearly Stop Making Sense - The Talking Heads

I keep hoping that Laurie Anderson Home of the Brave will get rereleased on DVD because I'm wearing out my VHS copy.

Best more recently produced is Rammstein Live Aus Berlin.

Blue man group had a concert that aired on Directv, I think it is BMG The Complex Rock Tour. It was top notch. The DVD that comes with their third CD (Megastar Live) has a concert but it was nowhere near as good as the concert I mention. The third CD wasn't as good as the other two CDs either.

I have that one. It's great. I also have Cradle of Filth: Peace Through Superior Firepower.

Cheating a bit, as this is a YouTube clip and not a concert DVD. But for those who mentioned Crowded House as a great live band/ having great live DVDs, here's a Glastonbury clip.

Might not really interest non-fans, but it does give a taste of how CH interact with the crowd and make every single performance different. Having seen Prince (who my companion considered the apogee of live performance) and then taking her to see CH, I realised how spoilt I was. Consummate showmen, in a very different way than Prince. They both have their place - I just know who I prefer.

End of one song, chatting with security, then Don't Dream it's Over (with usual audience singalong) with security ad-libbing.

PS - Neil Finn could be David Tennant's Dad. In my mind.

I don't have any concert DVDs, except for the Blue Man Group one, which I bought after seeing them in LV--really terrific, and I watch it a lot.

Maybe I'll take some of the suggestions here. Cool topic!

Brian Setzer "Live In Japan" Older but still Entertaining. A great show. You can tell the Orchestra loves what they are doing. The audience loves it even more.

Eric Clapton "Crossroads" Spectacular guitar work and history of songs. "Cocaine" was written and originally sung by who?

The Eagles "Live From Australia"...Their best work, they get better with age. (Sorry, Don Felder)

Blue Man Group "The Complex, Rock Tour Live" You better go beyond "Eleven" on the Amps. Best rock violin,(fiddle if you insist) ever. The song, I Feel Love - featuring Venus Hum has a very special life of it's own.

Stray Cats "Rumble In Brixton" How can a trio make this much music? The audience knows every word and has a rockin' good time.
