Someone posted some art under the phrase "What. Must. This. Man. Dream?" (of course, I can't find the thread...) that turned out to contain some wonderfully dark and pleasingly intricate artwork. In turn, I'd like to reply with my current favorite work which I think is just as detailed, but opposite in "creepy factor":
a beautiful piece by Sigeya. The colors in this are amazing and everytime I look at it I find a new, tiny feature I didn't see before. Bottles, dragonflies, a weathervane, fireflies, distant structures, text clippings, lanterns. The image gives a nice, warm feeling.
...and my current favorite for 3D CGI and machine design is
Movkup, especially for producing some fantastic looking heavy equipment. Steel, iron, and textured rust. Nice.
