Your future share: $30,000

Well, they passed it. If our government takes advantage of the increase, it is possible that if you distributed the debt of the US to every man, woman, and child, it would amount to $30,000 per person.

Quote:
The vote came a day after Treasury Secretary John Snow warned lawmakers that action was "critical to provide certainty to financial markets that the integrity of the obligations of the United States will not be compromised."
You know what would be real fun right now? More tax cuts!

Not for you, of course, because you don't have enough money to make a difference in either the economy or the Republican's re-election campaigns. Tax cuts are for people who already have a lot of money.

No wonder we have problems in this country.

From: What is a Trillion?

Quote:
"It's hard to understand what a trillion is. I don't know what it is," confessed Senate Budget Committee Chairman Judd Gregg, a New Hampshire Republican, this week when debating the government's staggering fiscal obligations.

An interesting read, though.

Quote:
To burn through $1 trillion in the average American life span of 77 years, you'd have to part with about $35,580,857 and change every day from birth.

I'm perfectly willing to do my part for the economy and give that sort of spending a shot. Of course, with only 20 or so years left to live, I'm going to have to pick up that spending rate a mite.

Who's supplying the dough, BTW?

What? Are you a multi-millionaire whose being holding out on us, Slang?

$30,000.00, eh? I know that I paid at least that much in taxes over 30 years working and paying Uncle Sam faithfully every year. My conscience is clear. I figure that every penny I now get back from the government is one less that won't go into Halliburten's coffers or be spent on the war in Iraq. Fuck 'em!

1. I see things completely different and in my world the sky can be green if I want it to be. :p

2. How much control would you expect any one of us to have on this or any other policy? I have one vote just like you. I dedicate X number of dollars and time toward campaigns every cycle.

What more is there to do without focussing my every waking moment on this?
