Is God Patriotic Enough?

Note: this is taken from The Simpsons, on the marquee out in front of the church.

A friend of mine commented that he would like to put this on a T-Shirt. We got to talking about the can of worms opened up by this small sentence, this group of four words that, when contemplated with even a modicum of common sense, seemingly blows clean out of the water a philosophy that is overtaking our society like a plague. War-mongering Christians. Isn't that an odd combination? It should be, but it's not, in the bizarro-world we now live in. We have, for instance, Pro-Lifers that support the Death Penalty, without a hint of irony. What the hell is wrong with people?

war is ironic as god is on both sides. god is patriotic to heaven. the more people that die in a war believing in his name, the more soldiers he has in heaven to take on evil aliens from the Hell Galaxy, M-666.

Due to the separation of Church (representing God) and State (advocated by Patriotism), any unifying answer to your question shall be deemed unconstitutional [and possibly sacrilegious]. Better luck next time!

I have wondered these very same things.I don't know why war is god loving and patriotic. It is also ironic that a cartoons seem to be the conscience of America.

Also, the "fake news" (as in the Daily Show, The Onion, etc.) is more telling than the "real news" . . .

It really is a bizarro-world!

The news is all shades of grey. Real is but perspective. but the world in general can be beautiful sometimes. It is just a matter of getting the machine out of it.

What surprises me is that these people do not know their history, how important the separation of church and state was to our founding fathers.

"Polls Show Many Americans are Simply Dumber Than Bush."

Bruce, I gotta tell you this is the worst sig-line you can have. For one thing, and I'm saying this as a friend, it invites attack, and it leaves you open to the attacks it invites.

It demonstrates one of the sillier things about the left-of-center: their penchant for what amounts to a third-grader's recess debate. This is nothing more than yelling, "Oh, you're just stupid! Stooopid!!"

The Left can't get out of elementary school -- not deep down. When they think they win by resorting to an eight-year-old's kind of response -- well, we who are a bit more to the right just go right ahead and let them think that way, that they may be the better occupied with a harmless mental masturbation, and stay out of the way of the adult minds.

When you're really grown up, you're not a leftist any more.

As opposed to "Oh, you're a commie! A pinko commie!"

[first thought]
I disagree. When your really grown up no body cares.

[my internet spin]
Principles first. Polictical talking points second. Bush being dumb and Americans being dumber is a bi partisan issue now. Haven't you heard?

..because apparently that is the level of explanation they must use in order to have a chance at reaching Bush's 'core' demographic.

The left does not need to create intelligent arguments, because most of the intelligent people are on the left. The left needs to create simplistic watered-down sound bites to match what the RNC is putting out.

Oh, and UG? Phhhhhhbbbbbbtttttt!!!!!!!!
