I just caught an episode of American Idol on Fox. I have to say, there's some pretty great talent amongst the males this year.

I'd put my money on David Cook. He did a brilliant rendition of 'Hello' by Lionel Richie.

Who's your favourite Idol?

David Cook is a local boy (Blue Springs is an Eastern suburb of KC), and yes, his arrangement of "Hello" was stupendously inspired. He's still not gonna win, though. Not unless he can top himself week after week. I have weird criteria for people I like on AI, and the first criteria is always that the performer is *real*. David is, and so are a few of the others.

The current batch of 12 is pretty much the best top 12 ever, IMHO. Tons of serious chops, attitudes and looks add up to what will be a great last half of the season.

Yes, I know. I'm a geek. I'm sorry. It *is* the only reality TV I watch - except for things where there are cop chases and other stupid human tricks.

haven't watched since season 2

i thought it would have gotten old but it's the #1 american reality tv show for years running

This is weird: one of the chicks this season (Carly Smithson) had a record deal with MCA, had her record put out and promoted to death by MCA... for $2M... and it totally TOTALLY tanked... selling 400 copies...

All while Mr. Randy Jackson was VP of A&R at MCA.

She's on AmIdol under a different name (Carly Hennessy) so maybe dogg forgot that she already had a chance to be an idol and failed miserably. :P
