Child Labor
Look at these United States cotton mill workers from about 1909.
![]() Don't you envy those clean, clear complexions? That's the result of hard labor, and long hours, in the sweatshops walmart enables. Do your part in helping children worldwide, to better complexions.

They look middle-aged. They probably ARE "middle-aged" ...

Workers?!
Those boys have clearly been picnicking under a tree. Just look at those caps. Pleased to see Jodie Foster second from left though. She's ageing well now she's given up the sunbeds.

Unfortunately it was the rule, rather than the exception, except for rich kids. Oh, and farm kids that were too busy on the farm, to work in sweat shops.

There are some kids in our neighborhood who could use a little child labor. Where do I sign them up?

Slackers. How many miles uphill did they have to walk uphill, both ways, to work?

The three boys look hungry. There's something bordering on gaunt about the lad in the middle. Look at those boys' eyes. They look like they know more about hardwork than I ever will.

They look old and tired. No wonder they died earlier. I want more local production for my community from adults that only work 8 hours a day for 5 days a week, max. I feel for adults too. They are abused and kicked around too. I do not support the chinese business model influencing america. I do like the Japanese International Standards because it's useful. But adults are dying over production. I think I know why there are so many heart attacks.

My husband worked long hours from childhood on the farm. Probably not to the extent that these kids did, though. He was driving a pickup at age 7ish(?) to help with the irrigating. His parents needed the help. It was about survival for them, I suppose. Now, he has an amazing work ethic. I don't know how he does it. I, on the other hand am a lazy louse. :P
Our kids have it really pretty good. We pay them to do extra "jobs" around the house, but they have a choice about it. They do chores, but those are required. Still, most of the time they are playing or doing something fun. It's interesting how the lifestyles of children have changed along side of those of adults. |
