Getting Dentures
Ok. I go to the dentist Wednesday at 1100 for my initial visit/consultation. I don't really know what to expect, and honestly I'm a little anxious about it.
![]() I bet it's gonna be a bitch getting all my teeth pulled at once. I'm told I'll get a set of "immediate" or "temporaries" and go back in 4-6 weeks to get my permanent 'teeth'. ![]() Do you have dentures? What was your experience like? I'll keep you posted on my case and meanwhile I could use some input. Thank you in advance.

Do you know for sure you need to get a full set of dentures? It's the thing I dread most, you have my complete sympathy.

My grandad had this done and declared that it was the best thing - he wished he'd done it years ago.
Hope it all goes smoothly. (juju - kissing someone without their "wallies" is a whole new experience!)

You mean "wally" - pronounced to rhyme with brolly.
I mean "wally" - pronounced to rhyme with Sally.

I hear people that have them like them very much and you will be asleep and awake before you even notice.
That's what my mam tells me anyway. |

It's mighty aggravating and sore (not painful, just sore) for a week or two. But then they settle in, and it'll take a little getting used to, but it's a quick learning curve. Your eating habits will change drastically, being extra careful and all, but slowly get back to close to what they were.
VERY IMPORTANT: You hear "soft foods" and you'll immediately think of bread, right? Bread is the hardest thing to chew in the entire fucking spectrum of human edibles. I shit you not, steak is easier to chew than bread.

OMFG I'm almost suicidal when I need a crown. I can't imagine volunteering to have all my teeth pulled to get dentures. You're way braver than me, cap'n.

A root canal & crown? Had eight of them and nothing but trouble, now if a tooth bothers me, I can leave it at the dentist's office and pick it up later. I don't care how much he hurt it while I was gone.

yup I live in fear of that too. I brush so well I alone could keep the toothbrush industry in business. My hygenist gets pissed off because there's nothing for her to do....
