Preparing for the wedding coverage
I've started getting ready for the wedding coverage. Is anyone else glued to the TV waiting for it to begin? I have my box of tissues and I even bought a new bottle of lube. Of course I'll be watching it on E for the best fashion coverage

![]() I would have watched the satirical comedy coverage by The Chaser (1) but those goddamn Windsors leaned on the BBC and got all non-oficial uses of the footage banned. So I'm boycotting the lot. (1) The Chaser: Aussie comedians, the ones who "infiltrated" the Sydney APEC summit in a fake motorcade with a dude dressed up as Osama. Those ones.

I'm up!
Mum is generally grumpy because people are coming. She only pretends to enjoy company. Apparently it's my fault that the 'rents forgot ice when they went to Tesco at 06.30. I wrote a little note on the pad in the kitchen last night to say DON'T HAVE A BIG BREAKFAST! This meant they forgot the shopping list (also on the pad) and therefore forgot the ice. Yeah, I'd like to see that excuse work the other way round... So I'm off down the Spar to buy some. If I leave it til 08.30 I can buy myself a drink to get through it all. |

I only wanted to see Kate's dress - which I did, right now, on AOL.
The dress was perfect. She was perfect. Wm. was perfect. Now I'll be watching Dexter for the rest of the weekend.

I had a moment of sentimental silliness the other day when I watched a vid of Diana and William, from him as a baby to now. Diana died when he was 15 I think. She died the same day my grandmother died.
That made me teary. As I said, elaborate weddings don't do much for me, so I'm going to be content seeing a photo or two. But, a toast of coffee to the couple. Cheers. |

It was distinctly surreal getting the groceries to the sound of the Lord's prayer being intoned over the supermarket sound system ...

It's difficult for them; it must be. They are photogenic, hyper-priviledged, wealthy, powerful, secure and much admired. Must be a living hell, poor sods.
I don't want to hear what a trial it all is, like we had to hear with Diana. I liked Diana, don't get me wrong, but come on.

I wasn't going to watch it at all, and my son had a change of heart and declared it "boring" when I mentioned we could turn it on to watch, but then when I was waiting for my wife to get back from her party so I could go to work, she called to say she was running a little late, and urged me to turn on the tv. So I did, and watched a couple minutes of the carriage ride after the ceremony. I have to admit, it was pretty cool. Who doesn't love a parade? I turned it off when the queen got out of her carriage and went inside the palace.

We've had a lovely time.
I'm a little tiddly because I sneakily had more drink than the others (I am not proud of this) We had a lovely buffet, and I let my Mum take all the credit. Every single time. It was complimented about five times. I'm not bitter, I just expected better from her. Anyway - loved the dress, loved the extremely simple floral theme (although why didn't she lay her bouquet on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?) and they do seem to be really in love. Also, loved her sister's butt! If anyone is going to follow you up the aisle on something that will be broadcast to millions of people, make sure they are as svelte as Pippa Middleton! |

If there is one thing this country does well, it is ceremony.
