Yoga
Tell me how you feel about it. I gave it another chance last night and wasted an hour or my life and irritated my sciatica

I've been told by many sources I should try yoga.
I have my own sort of stretching routine that is yoga-like, but I've been slacking and I'm sure it's not thorough. I'd like to try it, though. It strengthens your 'core' doesn't it? My core is wimpy and sad and slack. My core is a bore. But, once you strengthen your core, doesn't it help you with back issues? |

I don't do it much at all, but when I do, I enjoy it somewhat. Feels good to stretch.

I enjoy yoga.
But, mostly as a spectator.

It depends so much on the teacher and the style.
Sort of like asking if a person likes exercise. You may like swimming the crawl but not the butterfly, or you might have an asshole coach who sucks the enthusiasm out of the pool or one that would inspire you to eat ground glass. Take beginner classes and try a bunch of different teachers. It's really like night and day. I don't go in for all the chakra om bullshit.

Tried it for years as my flexibility is poor, never helped much. I found my lack of flexibility stopped even getting started on many of the poses, there's a low bar you need to reach to be able to get started and feel the benefit I think.

True, I think that's why there's also paintball.

My SiL used to do hot yoga which was supposed to be more intense. There is probably a better use of your time out there though. If its a total personality mis-match its prolly not helpful.

![]() How true ... I've only gone to a couple of yoga classes. Felt like I was in pain and wasting my time all at once. I like 'horse stance' horizontal rows etc. for core strengthening, myself.

I stretch my spine in all directions, every morning. It gets my blood going and reminds my body to do something other than sit at a desk. Don't overdo it, and don't do anything that feels wrong to you. Classes can't tell you that. Throw in some push-ups, pull-ups, and regular ol' crunches.
