$300 big screen projector project
http://www20.tomshardware.com/howto/20041113/index.html
Supersize Your TV for $300: Build Your Own XGA Projector! Conclusion: The Fun And Fascination Of Building Your Own Projector This article was inspired by offers on eBay for home projector construction manuals for around $20 that, on closer inspection, proved to be thoroughly useless. The result was all the more pleasing: the projector we built convinced even the notorious skeptics at the THG lab in Munich. Despite daylight flooding the room, the luminous efficiency of 3,500 ANSI lumens made it possible to screen DVD films and images onto a white wall. Perfect display quality can be achieved in a completely darkened room. But why not just download our new video (#13)? It will give you an idea of what you can expect from the final product.

Yeah, I think I've found my first real project in a long time.

I see a market opening for 15-inch high-res LCD monitors...
OK, maybe not. But a 1600x1200 15-incher would kick ass.

Anyone know where *just* the TFT panels and supporting boards can be purchased, as opposed to having to disassemble anything?

You won't find the TFT display + supporting boards any cheaper than you'll find entire monitors.
I wonder how many LCDs they ruined attempting this... |

Hi, I am a newbie.
This is pretty sweet, I am almost tempted to tear apart my monitor. Another cool project to think about: "Build your own Cintiq Tablet". I will trade artistic services for this. |
