Burning CD's from PC to car CD player

Hi all,
I have a Pioneer DEH-P2600 car stereo, non-MP3 compatible.
Instead of burning 4, 8, or 13 CD's of my songs to carry around, is it possible to burn cda files onto a DVD-R (or +R, whatever) so that I can get over 4GB of music into the CD player at once, instead of 800MB? I have just under 4.3 GB of songs archived on my HDD, so my entire collection would fit on one DVD blank (I think).

Several years ago I read in a magazine that most CD players could only read/play a CD that had 22 or less songs. Has this changed? I thought it would be a lot easier to burn a copy of almost every single song I own than burn all of these mixed CD's...

unless your stereo is DVD compatible, you won't be able to play back an audio DVD in it. Even though they're the same size and both have one shiny side, the info is stored on them in different ways, and the size of the pits and rows is different.

No. DVDs look similar but are not compatible.

Thanks for the help, all. I didn't think it would work...

I hear that you can buy MP3 players that broadcast to an empty FM slot...that may be the way to go...

Ipods can do that if you get the right attachment.

i just got a belkin thingamijig that broadcasts my ipod to my radio. $38, and it worked very well. i need to get busy ripping our cd collection so i have more to tote around.

It's called the iTrip and it is very cool! I keep mine in the car and pop it in the iPod as soon as I get in. No more searching through endless commercials on radio stations or fumbling with tapes or CDs. IPod does rock!

For only $38 I may consider that! I just heard about these gizmos last week but I wrote them off as probably being a gajillion $$...$38 is quite reasonable. Thanks for the ideas and input.
