Beautiful Snow!

I wish I had a digital camera. It's been snowing here in Ohio since around 11 a.m, huge, fluffy flakes coming down like a confetti shower. It's really beautiful and I'm pretty sure it's heading towards Phila. Have fun!

I was just taking out the trash. It is warm and still after being warm and raining all day. I just got an emergency alert page telling me a massive thunderstorm is on it's way.

Thunderstorm in February. Clear sign of the apocalypse.

Current radar looks like it's Allentown that's getting a thunderbumper now. Funny looking depiction chart too: low over NW Ohio with a trough over the Great Lakes; occluded front from the low to midstate PA where it hangs a funny right turn and intersects the Mason-Dixon below Carlyle. Right there it has the triple point and the warm front takes off due east and the cold front due south. No way's it's snow here though; the sector behind the cold front is too dry. But they're forcasting that triple point to pass through Philly before 1am...that's prolly what your beeper's talking about. Triple points are mad unstable air.

78 mph gusts on the coast. sideways rain. sideways trees. 18" new snow today in mountains. floating bridges closed because ship passage span is open to relieve strain. wait a minute. blue sky and sideways trees. weird.

Sunny and clear here.
BigV - since you are in the Seattle area, you probably remember the big storm that tore up the floating highway thingy that was in your area years ago.
It got sold off in sections, and we bought a part of it... it even had streetlights!! (we had to remove them since they didn't work anymore)
Anyway, we had a great day on the boat, and I got some awesome shots - they are way too big to post here, so PM me if you want them.

It's been too weird....I put the top down on the way home from work, twice, in January.
NASA says;
Quote:
While there are cyclic climate phenomena, such as the North Atlantic Oscillation, that are associated with more- or less-severe-than-normal winters in parts of the northern hemisphere, there doesn’t necessarily have to be anything “behind” an unusually warm or cold month or season. The weather is a chaotic system with a lot of variability, and it can exhibit seemingly “out-of-the ordinary” behavior, especially over the short-term, that is not linked to any specific climate phenomenon.
So no hand wringing, teeth gnashing, the end is neigh scenerios, just yet.
The image compares the temperatures between January 1-24, 2006, to the average temperatures for that period from 2001-2005.

Four years isn't very long, I wonder how that diagram would change as more years are added.

The same thing is happening here right now Brianna. I'm in BC Canada. Hopefully it ends by noon, I have to run out on my lunch hour and buy some Valentines.

Very strange this afternoon. Warm, sunny and melt water running like streams in the road, but....snow still stuck on the trees, even on bare twigs.
