Losing it? Can't remember where you had it last? Wish you knew where "the last place" is, so you could look there first instead of last?

I don't know if it's distraction, age or what, but I find myself in rooms and don't know why I'm there. It's that I lose things, so much as forget to take/bring things.

Guess my head is full....a veritable cesspool of information, mostly crap and clear as mud..... but it covers the ground.

The research was primarily aimed at determining how much business equipment was lost in taxis every day.
Amazingly, the survey found that, just in past six months, 54,872 mobile phones, 4,718 handheld computers, 3,179 laptops and 923 computer memory cards were left in cabs -- and that was just in London, England!

Of course not everything left behind was business equipment.
According to the survey, in London, one man left his drunken girlfriend asleep and told the cabbie that he was leaving her as a tip.
Another driver was left with a man wearing only underpants.

Other taxi drivers in London have reported finding a machinegun, an antique telescope, and a bag of diamonds worth $200,000 (£100,000) on the rear seats of their cabs. Although this is just a smattering of what was left behind in London, it made the city the most eccentric and forgetful place of the 11 cities surveyed.

Richard Massett, of Lond's Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, told one reporter, “All sorts of things do turn up in the backs of cabs. Laptops, phones, umbrellas and briefcases are probably the most common but we do get wooden legs on occasion and I know the story of the diamonds is quite correct.”

On the positive side, at least for Londoners, their cabbies turned out to be astoundingly honest, and managed to return 96% of the 54,872 phones left behind in cabs, and 97% of the laptop computers.

Many drivers chased after passengers, especially with laptops. One cabbie who ran after a passenger with a “very large suitcase” was told that its owner did not want it returned; on further examination it turned out to be packed with adult entertainment material.

Peter Larsson, Pointsec's chief executive, told The Times newspaper: “This survey shows that no one is infallible and looking at this survey’s findings you look to stand a pretty good chance of losing a mobile device in a cab or indeed any public place.”

Wonder if London passengers are more forgetful, or cab drivers more honest?

After sitting listening to a London cabbie's views on the world while stuck in traffic for 20 minutes you're happy to get out with your sanity intact. If this means leaving some personal belongings behind it's a fair trade off - if it came down to it you'd chew your own arm off to get away. (Okay, they're not that bad, but they do want to share their opinion with everyone who gets in)

Honest? Yes, I accept that. Just not always very polite.

OK, I'll take your word on that. I did see a TV show about the training and exams London cabbies have to go through to get a license...impressive.
