![]() Haw. If the person who passed this is caught, they will only face charges of theft by deception, not counterfeiting. Since there IS no $200 bill, it is not faking US currency to print one! |

This story reminds me of the artist J.S.G Boggs. I have seen a piece about him on television, most likely on PBS. His whole deal is to design one sided images of money and he attempts to pay for his daily needs by attempting to convince people that they should accept the art at face value. Once a bill has actually been used in a transaction it is 'supposedly' a highly sought after collector's item.
He has been hounded at by the SS aka the Secret Service for in thier eyes being a counterfiter. Kind of reminds me of Steve Jackson games. The most interesting thing I found out today though was that Boggs had his portrait engraved by the guy that did the new $20. He is supposedly going to use it on his $100,000 bill. If I was ever in the position where I was working the register and this guy offered some of his art for a purchase, I would gladly stomach the bill for his money art. But only because I like wierd counterculture stuff, not to be a collector. Read this article for more. Makes you think about what money is or is not. I can see why the SS is after him though; imagine if the people lost faith in the Almighty Dollar and switched to e-gold |
