Jekyll Island

Family rented a cabin, fully wheelchair accessible, for a week next month. The week of the 4th of July.
Found a guide that knows of some places where I can fish.
Really excited.
Just got an caudal vs. lumbar epidural, it will just be peaking then, so I should be in pretty good shape, pain wise.
Anyone been?
It will be our 14th anniversary (start of our 18th year) & our son's 4th birthday party.
I am going to LIVE in the hot-tub.

We go here on the WE and live very close to Jekyll and spend a fair amount of time there. I can tell you what you need to know. Fishing? Best bet would be to get a charter out of Golden Isles Marina. There is only one good public fishing pier on the North end Intercostal side. Drop me a PM or let me know if I can be of assistance.

That's a fair number of years, congratulations. Oh, and happy birthday to your son. I hope you have a great trip.

The guide my father found is taking us to some private piers that are accessible. One is supposed to be really good for large reds. But, I appreciate it and may take you up on that. You never know how things are really going to work out.
I would like directions to that public pier.

I am serious, if you live close to here we could work something out. I have a boat and we can go fishing if you care.

I can't handle a boat, but thank you so much for the offer. In fact I'm stuck at the house today, bad pain day (did too much yesterday, missing the beach and fireworks, I'm pissed).
But, I'll ask if there will be another free day. I'm not making plans. We went to the pier and I was amazed that it was accessible, even after reading it was (you would be surprised what some call accessible). I did not catch anything but had the best time I've had in YEARS.
I'll upload some pics when I can wrestle the camera from my wife. I have not really taken any. I'm not doing very well this trip and have been in the chair the whole time. The weather has been bad, it messes with me. It is a lovely island. I love the wetlands.

rk, I'm so glad to read that you're having a good time. I know (from family telling me of their experiences) how easy it is to overdo it and then be knackered for the next day. I'm not going to say "pace yourself", I'm saying emphatically "don't beat yourself up over stuff" - if you had a great day but "overdid" it leading to pain or tiredness, just chill, don't waste your energy kicking yourself. Chill, save the energy for another good day on the island before your holiday is up.

I did not take many pics, most were taken by others.
I loaned my lenses out.
