I doubt I would be able to walk through one of these even if you paid me. Even reading the website literally made me shudder.

As well as being skittish and easily spooked in general, I have a long standing belief that if I saw something too scary my mind would simply snap and I would spend the rest of my days in a vegetative state. (For the record the Jekyll & Hyde family restaurant in New York freaked me out... to the disgust of the children who entered at the same time as us)

So saying, I spent hours sitting in a bar in Blackpool where the haunted house exited, laughing in sheer delight at the people who piled out, terrifed. I'd love to have a window on a haunted house, just to watch people braver than me running scared.

Edited to add - I've just seen that 7 Floors of Hell has a Haunted Circus. That means.... killer clowns.... right? I'm going to have to hide under my desk now.

I've yet to go through a haunted house that actually scared me. I've had them raise my blood pressure and get me tense, waiting for the next goon to go "blearghhgh". But without fail, all they make me feel is the urge to punch the monsters in the mouth (not that I could cause any physical harm, what with the arthritis and all). It feels weird being herded through there though.

I would get a lot more scared if the place was empty and people weren't screaming, and they only had someone jump out on random occasions -- like once a week. Empty haunted houses are creepy.

And this would be the house band. I have the cd, and it's freaky as anything. A couple reviews:

this cd would go well with a bottle of whiskey on a moonlit night behind the animal cages of the traveling circus.... it really brings images of a carnival to mind...

Where do I begin? The accordion, using meat as percussion...?

This is music from a dark, seedy cabaret, or perhaps a warped little carnival in some parallel world of darkness.

You just reminded me why I stopped going after the age of 16! All the screaming and yelling. The tenseness. It is all comming back to me now.

It WOULD be very cool to be alone in one of those places with just the hint of someone there but not being annoying and over dramatic.

i remember on cable they had this show where they sent regular people (youse and meese) to "authentic" haunted estates.... usually in europe. left them there (with camera crew?) and filmed the events of their night. creepy stuff.

of course nothing from Kansas would be on that list...LMAO...imagine that. They do have some pretty good multi-story one's up in KC though...they're just not that scary

Landmark Harvard Exit

Moviegoers have heard mysterious laughter, while others report seeing the ghost of a hanged woman in the hallway.

Green Lake

I have a book called "Haunted Leicester" - if anyone is ever in this part of the world I'll take you on a tour of supposed sites of hauntings. I daren't go alone.

I recommend the Haunted London walking tours to anyone there. We might not be able to match the special effects of US "Haunted Houses" but we have a capital city steeped in bloody history

My wheelchair never fits in them.

I've started thinking of Halloween now that the leaves are falling.
Even though the temp today is 28 degrees and set to continue into October!

And as I was arsing about I found this thread.
Wondered if anyone had been to any of these places, or had a personal experience with this kind of place.
I am looking to be scared vicariously.
