BINGHAMTON -- Members of the crowd demanded answers, and they wanted them now. New York Regional Interconnect Project Manager William May provided responses, but the shouts from the crowd indicted that he did little to satisfactorily address many of the questions and concerns of those who attended Wednesday night's meeting at American Legion Post 80 in Binghamton. The meeting was held to discuss NYRI's proposed power line, which would cut through Broome and Chenango counties. What May called a "public-information meeting" from 7 to 9 p.m. began with an approximately 15-minute presentation by May that Suzanne Holwittof the Town of Chenango called public relations "gobble-de-gook." This little nightmare is proposed to dip into PA. Let's see if our new law has any teeth. According to the thieves website the preferred route runs East of us but the other route looks like it goes right through us. It is way past time to decentralize power in this country.
