For ZippyT, as requested
Hey Zippy,
I have a good memory, but it's short. Anyway I was taking advantage of the first sunny day in two weeks to work in the darkroom, and I found three examples of photos made with different filters. The top is made with no filter. the sky looks light because b+w film is over sensitive to blue light, so skies tend to be washed out. The second photo is made with a yellow filter and it gives a more natural look to a blue sky, but you'll notice that the patch of sun is lighter. Filters darken their opposite color and lighten their own color. The bottom picture was made with a deep orange filter. The blue sky is even darker, and if your monitor is better than mine you may notice that the shadow areas are darker too. That's because shadows are lit with sky light which is blue, rather than sunlight which is yellow or orange. depending on the time of day. sometimes red or purple depnding on what was in your cigarette... ![]()
