Dreaming of a White New Year....

as we went to the fridge to get the bubbly at 11;50, we noticed it had started snowing. As we put the kids to bed half an hour later:

Isn't that lovely.

I've never seen the snow before. To me it seems magical, but I guess to those that have to deal with it all the time it's not always quite so magical.

It is really beautiful.... for about 2 days. Then people have to begin to move in it. The sun comes out in the day. The snow turns to mush in the streets, then it freezes. Then it turns grey and nasty. Then it snows on top of the ice. People crash. The soft snow gets a hard crust on it of frozen ice. Then the plows come buy and pile up the snow around your car and driveway. They also throw salt on the road that makes some of the ice melt. Now the snow is nearly black in the road and icey. By the end of the first week you wish it was summer again.

There is now a 6foot+ sleddable snow mountain in the center of that pic. We have been playing all day. (we got about a foot in the end and it's so sticky it's still 3" deep on top of the thinnest branches). More pics in a bit.

I like your attitude. When winter brings snow, don't bitch and curse it... PLAY in it.

The kids beat you to it (they say slugbug round here, though ) :p
-it's been there for a couple of days. Helped dig it out this afternoon -the southern visitors had no idea how to clear snow and needed to get on the road before my neighbor's nephew arrived to clear the snow.

Here's that view this evening, and a slightly blurry shot showing just how beautiful and fun it is (blur because I turned the flash off, couldn't be arsed to get a tripod). My arms ache from building that mountain....

The top one with you sitting on the pile of snow reminds me of the Saturday Night Live fake commercial for "Colon Blow" cereal and "Super Colon Blow"

ok, well all I can think of is where the point on that thing went to...and it's not too pretty.

Sorry, I must be getting back to my old filthy minded self or something.
