Since everyone seems to be posting these and I'm a bit bored right now...
My RL name is Andrey, I'm 21, I live in Philly suburbs PA (Springfield 19064 to be exact). I'm currently a 3rd year Drexel student majoring in IST and interning at Susquehana International Group (SIG) and I'm an asshole. (That way you don't have to figure it out for yourself.) Having said that, there are people who do not believe me to be an asshole. Wether or not you will be one of those people depends on YOU not on me. You will either love me or you will hate me. But thats up to you, not me. I don't get to pick whom I like and whom I hate. But then...you don't have to be liked. Further pointless information. I was born in Russia, moved to Germany in 1991 due to my fathers chemistry research and then to Australia 2.5 years later. Finally I ended up in the US and eventualy drifted down to PA from MI with a short stop in DE. Thats the short story of my life. Things I hate: Russia, Soviet Union, Communism, War, Afghanistan, Bush, Democrats, Republicans, Nazies, KKK, Religious fantics, Ashcroft, DCMA, Patriot Act, Freudian psychology, China, North Korea, Israel, Pro Life fanatics, RIAA, MPAA, SCO, traffic laws(speed limits), car insurance companies, inflated medicine costs, defense spending, ever rising school taxes, the bible, $1 bottled water, keyboards with odd key positions, spam, people who slow down to a crawl to turn, bad disfigured English(things like "whatchadoin", idiotic things like "diddy"), my best friend (he's an asshole), idiotic spelling of names (Jyhneefyier), people who talk loudly on public transportation (on cell phones or otherwise), homesless urine/shit soaked bums on SEPTA during morning commute, beurocracy, disney(not everything needs happy endings), airport security, airline ticket pricing/discount schemes, marketed music (brittney, nsync, robbie williams), security through obscurity, gun laws, being exausted after work and still dirt poor. Thing I love: My girlfriend, good wine, ok wine, so so wine, Chilies in King of Prussa (all others suck), Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoom, AMD, my 2001 Chrysler Concorde LXi, my two idiotic cats (Unix & Java), my best friend (he's not always an asshole), eMule, Infected Mushroom, liberitarians, constitution, atheism (non forced), freedom, Australian nautre and weather (not their politics), warm weather, sandy beaches with blue (not green) water, mountain biking, computer games, MMORPGs(I quit though), guinness, anime, synthetic motor oil, fantasy books, Sci Fi (only Asimov and Clarke), Orbit chewing gum, XTZ mints, Lian Li cases, halogen lights, optical mice, natural keyboards (with no weird keys), big high refresh rate monitors, comfy chairs, leather furniture, climate control in cars, free lunch at work, 25c bottled water, Google, Sinfest, Penny Arcade, titanium stuff, Rain X, Plextor CD-R drives, asian food, sushi, spicy stuff, grapefruits, grapefruit juice, honey with the bee built thing still in there, sleeping, DSL, Klipsh speakers, Netgear networking stuff, money, German culture, ammount of green stuff in PA, living in a big house, with my gf. Things I don't care for either way: You, Everyone not included in the first two lists, the world, god, religion, morality of others, your beliefs, your opinion of me, death, life after death, exact spelling, flawless grammar, tabloids, celebrity news, sports, radio, tv, popular news sources. |

At the risk of giving away his secrets, I have it on good authority that Andrey isn't as big an asshole as he claims. I won't say more, but you'll have to take my word on this. There's a possibility that he's actually a *nice guy*. Shhhh....don't tell anyone else.

I agree with everything on your "hate" list except Israel, and everything on your "love" list except your girlfriend. I hate your girlfriend, because frankly, who would be the girlfriend of an asshole.
But you don't care, you said so. SIG has a classified ad on hotjobs TODAY, looking for a Linux sysadmin... do you happen to know who's the decision-maker on this? Can you put my resume on his desk and explain that I'm so ideal for this job it's not funny? |

The person responsible for hiring the Linux Sysadmin is also my boss. Having said that, he's a very nice and reasonable guy and probably hired me out of pitty.
Being an intern I have very little authority in recomending anyone. Sorry. Infected Mushroom is techno...oddly enough it's from Israel. My hate for Israel is due to it's treatment of Palistine not because they're Jewish etc. Elspode, I'm still an asshole. I was just feeling ripped off by Garmin and figured me getting ripped off was one person too many. I'm certain that Garmin sees me as an asshole in this matter. Undertoad, I am alright with you hating my girlfriend, I'd be far more upset were you to love her. Just why she loves me considering that I am an asshole has confused me for years. Arguably I've never really been an asshole to her...unless you consider flying away to the US and never calling again for five years an asshole type of thing to do....alright I guess I was an asshole.... We won't get into Israel's treatment of Palestinians yet either, but I will tell you that almost every major accusation against Israel is either hypocritical or flat-out wrong. They're not perfect, but compared with their neighbors... yeah, I'll take Israel. That includes over the PA.

Gah. Someone I could have asked for help with my Russian and perhaps Crimean history (pre-Crimean war) and he hates Russia. Great. And the search continues.....

I do not so much hate "Russia" as the political state and the sheep like people. Russia was a great country before the revolution, full of pride, power and rich in history. My family was doing fairly well back then. The came communism, took the land, the house, kick them out to siberia, starved a third, killed off a third in the war, and "distributed" all that the family had. How they manged to avoid the camps later, I don't know.
Had there been no revolution I'd not be a poor intern immigrant and I wouldn't have had to change 10 schools through out my life in an attempt to avoid living in a 3rd world country. |

So does that mean I can ask you questions about Russian and history and traditions and recipes and "all things Russian"?
To be more specific, my interest lies in Ukranian history, primarily Crimean pre-war. I'm learning Russian on my own. I know basic words and a few phrases. I'd like to learn more about the time period around 1500-ish.

Well my gf is Russian and she seems to have some fondness for the country despite the fact that this wonderful country took her father away from her to fight the pointless war in Afghanistan when she was only 4.
I am not sure how much history she knows, but feel free to drop her a line at ssu@speakeasy.net My best friend (yes the asshole) is ukrainian so he might have some information for you. In other words, feel free to ask me anything. If I don't know, get bored/annoyed/confused I'll tell you. |

Sitting in what seemed to be piss on the El one day convinced me that the R7 was the way to commute to Center City. I'd rather drive, but I don't like racking up miles and burning gas sitting on 95 south in the morning, and I'd have to pay a fortune to park near where I work. |

We have noticed some things. People with certain names tend to go crazy in particular ways. Mostly we focus on something called Borderline Personality Disorder. We surmise that people (typically females) with certain clusters of names are more likely to carry this diagnosis. Crystal, Heather, Brittany, and Tiffany are the leading candidates, as are any really weird spelling variations of common names, including the aforementioned Jennaphr. Be very, very careful before giving your child a name you hope will be "distinctive." They will be marked for life. (I worry for my friend's young daughter, Krysta. Odd name coupled with an odd spelling. (*shakes head*))
