August 13, 2008: Fish Pedicure
Nibbling fish perform pedicures.
Tracy Roberts, 33, of Rockville, Md. has her toes nibbled on by a type of carp called garra rufa, or doctor fish, during a fish pedicure treatment at Yvonne Hair and Nails salon in Alexandria, Va. http://www.yvonnesalon.com/

I know someone who has done this!
Apparently the fish only feed on dead skin... Bet it tickles like hell. And would you want to risk being so tasty that the fish decide to change their eating habits? Nom nom nom, out you go on crutches. Last edited by Sundae; 08-13-2008 at 07:36 PM. |

So the cute little fish skin off feet, huh? Well, that's nice, I suppose, only where are the fish who nibble away excess butt fat? And when can I make an appointment to sit in a bucket of them?

Oh good memory!
That was while I didn't have access, or I'd have posted my spurious connection with the procedure before. Shawnee was on form that day |

Hello--long time voyeur, first time poster…
I had to laugh at this post! A couple of years ago, my husband and I were in Osan, South Korea and saw an ad for "Dr. Fish” which included a picture of a very nasty looking foot being attended to by the dead-skin eating fish. The English portion of the ad read, “Good for you callus feet.” For some unexplainable reason, Dr. Fish has since become a fixture in our house. We even have a Dr. Fish dance and Dr. Fish song; in fact, Dr. Fish is the invisible friend often blamed for such mysteries as unfilled ice trays and bad smells... |

I wonder if the fish, during their down time, talk about the ones that got away.

The ones that don't get hooked on a hangnail, anyway.
Welcome to the Cellar, Bibliomaniac. Oh, and Dr Fish, too.
