3/1: Snake trick
![]() An image similar to this one was one of the first images of the day, and it was about a year ago. And this Ananova story explains, finally, that it's a traditional trick related to the Chinese New Year. |

I was thinking it would be useful as a homeopathic sinus treatment.

Excuse me... do you have a tissue? I seem to have a reptile coursing through my skull.

It's actually a relatively easy trick. I did one once where I inhaled one end of a piece of string and then coughed it out my mouth - nasal flossing!
Then I got a nosebleed. I didn't do that anymore. gg Ryan Anderson, for putting that dumb idea in my head. |

Here's another anecdote about one's nasal cavity and the fun you can have there...
Once when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old I found a metal part on the floor of the room where I was taking a nap. Being naturally scientific minded even as a kid, I stuffed the chunk of steel up my nose to see what would happen.
Predictably, I lost it. The metal part that is. No amount of digging would bring it out. It was gone, literally to parts unknown. Then I had to cough, and after a few tries I hacked it out into my hand, from my *mouth*. I was amazed. I layed back on my mattress, about to finally fall asleep, just wondering...how the heck... |

The hardest part about this trick isn't the snake; that takes care of itself. It's trying to get the small roaches the snake eat to climb up your nose so the snake follows them.

Not gross enough
I'd really like to see a 20-30 ft snake, going .. shall we say, all the way through.

I have to say
Snakes have to be some of the most patient, laid back animals on Earth.
I mean, if something 200x my size wanted to lovingly pick me up, gently hold me and then stuff my up it's nose, I'd bite. |
