Baseball News : A's Cisco Field
I got email about this today.
Oakland Athletics owner and managing partner Lew Wolff announced today the A's have reached an agreement to purchase a 143-acre parcel from Cisco Systems with the intent of constructing a baseball park in the City of Fremont. The state-of-the-art baseball-only stadium will be named Cisco Field as part of a 30-year naming rights agreement. Cisco Field will be located in Fremont, which is approximately 20 miles to the south of McAfee Coliseum. The Silicon Valley A's of Alameda County formerly of Oakland, Kansas City, and Philadelphia. I can leave a season ticket deposit today! I don't think so. This will be 15 miles from home instead of 35. But not until 2011! http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NAS.../new/index.jsp ![]()

I'm mixed on this. Guess more fans are in the South Bay but there's a lot to work out. Name, public transit, actually building the place. It's a shame they couldn't stay in Oakland but we'll see how this plays out.

Yes, too bad, I've been an Oakland fan since they moved from KC. The main draw is the corporate South Bay. The main problem in Oakland is the stadium was screwed up by the Raiders making it good for neither team.

The stadium was certainly no gem but I'll miss it all the same.
