Tell me about your car
I'm starting to look for a new car and I've owned 2 Nissan Altimas in a row. I haven't done any shopping yet, but thought I'd get an unbiased opinion on ehat you like or dislike about your car/cars. I'm looking at a small to mid-sized sedan, good on gas and reliable.

I have a Mercury Sable, which makes you pretty much S.O.L. as they have been discontinued. It's not a flashy car, but it's very nice, at least in the highest end option package, which is what I have. Try a Jaguar S-Class. I think that's basically the same vehicle, body styling, interior room, etc.

I have a Honda Odyssey, which doesn't fit your bill, but I do love the Hondas.
But, if I were in the market for a car, I would definitely start looking at the Volvos. A lot of money, but dependable and SAFE. Our other car is a Volvo. 1981, almost 300,000 miles. We've even got a Swedish mechanic to go with it. He keeps it running clean. The beauty with Volvos is you can buy used (more affordable) and still get lots of use out of it. We bought our baby in 1991 and have had it 15 years. Can't go wrong with that kinda history!

We've got three.
Toyota Echo- 44mpg 104k runs like a top. Very scary in windy, rainy, or big vehicle infested areas. I won't drive it in snowy conditions. Subara Impreza- 29mpg (still newish prolly do better after break in) fun, fast, loves the snow. Nissan 4x4 pickup- old high mileage rust bucket loves snow and mud. Somehow they hit that sweet spot where its a gas hog with not much power. The low power thing is actually an advantage for traction and it has a low range if I need to haul something heavy.

They don't make Prizms anymore, but they do still take high quality Japanese cars and slap GM labels on them and sell them for less. Take a look at the Pontiac Vibe, a small station wagon that's basically the same as the Toyota Matrix. It's apparently the most fuel efficient car GM sells in North America, but has lots of cargo room. Made in a Toyota factory in Canada. I don't know a lot about it, but it's worth looking into. |

I love Hondas. I had a little yellow CRX for years...it finally died
Now I have a 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Gotta be honest, it just wasn't designed well. Nothing about it makes sense. I miss my old rolly up by hand windows, sun roof, gas mileage, good-looking, sporty, 5 speed Chiquita. If I ever DO get another car, it will be a Honda or a used Beamer. I just think them ferners make better cars!

My Honda Civic has been great to me. Its relatively inexpensive, good build quality inside and out, and retains its value better than most other cars. Four door gives a good amount of space, but I would love one of the new Si's.

My CRX was an Si. It flew like the wind. Used to love driving in the summer. One of the Seinfeld cutscenes has the exact twin of that car. Something like this:

Chrysler/Dodge has a new Sebring/Stratus sedan with a 2.4L 4-banger. It's rated at 32 mpg hiway. (heh, I almost made that 32 mph...)
