Hasselbeck to Open for Palin

From here

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is going to be opening for Sarah Palin. This is definitely something most guys would want to see. Of course, we'd probably just mute the TV and hope for some good closeup shots. Maybe the Palin campaign will spring for a few of Hasselbeck's outfits, hopefully something tight and clingy.

I didn't understand the post (at all!) so I clicked the link.
I understand it a bit now, but not much more.

So a TV news reporter is taking time off from her job to act as a warm up act for a politician? Is that right? That seems awfully odd to me. Do politicians usually have the same person to introduce them rather than just the person running the event?

Also, is this woman a respected journalist - wouldn't it be better to have an intellectual from the party to offset fears of Palin's lack of experience?

Please explain if I am well off the mark here.
In fact, please just explain.

Okay - I know who she is now (thnka Dar!)
By I don't get the bit about "opening", why she is necessary and why she was chosen.

Cuz she is an unapologetic R on a show where all the other hosts are D's, she's "hot" and she's married to a football player.... sad but true.

Yeah...most of our newspapers (which as I mayhave mentioned are where the political bias comes into our media) have a couple of columnists from the other persuasion.

Pardon my dyslexia but I personally think this was a cunning stunt.
