8/9/2002: Cat and mouse, living together
![]() Nic had the other shot of this in Quality Images, so if you enjoy this sort of thing do go see his copy of it there. The official caption (which Nic has too): Auan, a seven-year-old female cat, licks the face of Jeena, a three-year-old male mouse, at a farmer's house in the central province of Phichit, 450 km (281 miles) north of Bangkok, August 7, 2002. The animals' owners say Auan found Jeena three years ago and has been his playmate and protector, including warding off dogs, since then. I can't imagine how the wiring of the cat instincts were overcome in this case. Animals are so strange sometimes. |

Uh, that's not his face. I think this cat's instincts may be a little stranger still.

Must be a non-confrontational cat, I guess. So what's Walter Matthau doing in Bangkok?

Reincarnated, I guess.
WALTER MATTHAU October 1, 1920 - July 2000 Could have been worse, though. Could have come back as the mouse! |

Isn't Phichit the one that's pronounced "FUK-it?"

It's just an unusually patient cat. She's tasting him. When he's perfect, she'll eat him.

My take on this is that the cat, a female, is acting as mother to the mouse. She needs an outlet for her maternal instincts. I do the same with my cat...

People keep pet kitties, why can't cats keep pet mousies?

Now with flavor Christals!
I totally agree with Russotto's observation.
I was also thinking that maybe it's like licking a toad?
