Jonathan Blaustein's, "The Value of a Dollar Project", not only looked a food in terms of a dollar's worth, but the role of commercial photography in selling food.

I’m interested in the way photography is used to deceive. Millions, if not billions of advertising dollars are spent annually photographing food and obfuscating reality. Fast food conglomerates are certainly the worst culprits, but everywhere we see glamorized versions of what we eat.

When Jonathan Blaustein bought 10 early-season organic blueberries for $1, he was a little upset by the price tag. It wasn’t the visual contrast — one dime to one blueberry — that perturbed him. It was the fact that six weeks earlier, he had purchased 17 organic blueberries from Chile for the same price.

“The blueberries from Chile were almost half the cost of the blueberries from 800 miles away,” said Mr. Blaustein, a cook-turned-photographer who arranged the berries in two neat rows of five and photographed them, in all of their organic goodness.

Maybe it's because Mr. Blaustein is originally from New Jersey, where you buy blueberries by the quart, not the berry.

Bruce seems to be the one who has hit upon the truth of the matter. This something that needs mentioning.

We blame the poor for their health problems, but make it impossible for them to afford healthy food. There are 182 grams of carbs in those ramen noodles. Thats enough to feed a family for a couple of meals. Now try and feed that same family 5 blueberries a meal.

Oh, and making note of the fact that he left the food out for animals makes me cranky. Just eat it already, that's the point of buying food.

I do. It's very easy to pass for those with Crohn's disease. It's not too bad on white bread with a little mayo and mustard.

Is it wrong that the things I liked the look of, best... the things that really made my stomach demand sustenance... were the Double CheeseBurger, and Potted Meat? They look... delicious.

Closely followed by the noodles - everyone loves Ramen Noodles!

This would be an easy one to come up with a recipe for - anyone want to give it a go? (I would, but, as always... no damn time. Just had to stop what I was doing, for a moment, to post this, as people seemed to disagree with the delicious nature of those foods. Hell, I prefer that picture, of the Double CheeseBurger, to the fake one that McDonalds use. Mmmm.)
