Does the 4th Amendment matter?
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Too quaint? Bloomberg is shaking down Black kids and Obama has his nets out, is it time to admit that the experiment is over because the people want a strongman to protect them?

There is always the "Get off your butt and vote" message around Election Day,
and I'm one who believes this is still truly the best way to good government. Politicians do take notice of public exposures and embarrassments. But I don't believe exposure of government secrets in the long run is as bad as some want to make them out to be. The exposure of PRISM, IRS abuses, etc will be used politically by those who are out to denigrate Obama in any way they can, but in the long run the problem is not which man/woman is the current holder of the Office of President. In part, there needs to be a public refusal to allow politicians and civil servants to use the "Not on my watch" rationale to guide their judgments. |
