coffee makers
If you were to go buy a new 12 cup coffee maker, what would you get and why? Keep it at a reasonable price, ballpark of $75 to perhaps $200. The one Mrs. Hijinx and I are replacing was a wedding present and it made it a whole 10 months and now takes forever to brew a pot. Yeah, I've cleaned it several times but this particular Mr. Coffee is so-so and I really REALLY like my coffee but have never really spent good $ on a good maker and am curious about what y'all have experienced in the past/present and/or future...thanks!
![]() this is what Mrs. Hijinx has her eye on: Hamilton Beach FlexBrew (got it Clod, thanks!)

I don't drink coffee, but as a side note, you have to call her Mrs. Hijinx, because I was really confused there for a minute...

coffee makers
We're in the same boat. Except our wedding gift coffee maker is 23 years old and still works, but we want one of those fancy new ones with the thermos style pot that will keep your pot of coffee warm all morning without burning it by using a burner to keep it warm. My wife says Real Simple has rated coffee makers and lists the best one for under $100. I'll try to find out which one that is, and post it here. I also need to buy one for Christmas for her.

Consumer Reports says the best 8 to 14 cup with carafe drip, is a Cuisinart $200, the second best is another Cuisinart $100, with the same damn score of 87. Third and forth are a KitchenAid(77) and Kenmore(76), both $100.
In the 10 to12 cup brew and dispense, Viante(81) $100, and Cusinart(78) $100 Then there's Grind and brew, and 1 to 2 mug to go yada yada yada.

I went with the Kuerug. I only usually drink one cup. Sometimes 2.

That Real Simple magazine "article" (it was just a page with some bullet points) said that the best under $100 coffee maker is the Black and Decker model you can get at Target for $60. It has the stainless steel thermos style pot that will keep the coffee warm all morning.

we ordered the HamBeach flexbrew and it's fairly straightforward and easy to use. You have the option on the single side of whether you're using a single serve pack or grinds & grinds are what we went with on the break in, not a bad cup of coffee but the pot needs to "season" some and get away from that "new car smell" lol
