Shadow operators needed

Reuters article

Ok so there is another cleric saying all good little muslims are obligated to fight the americans in Iraq. it we know who the people saying these things are, wouldn't a nice rifle with a good trigger finger take care of the situation? start taking out the shit stirrers before they get broad base support.

If preemptive strikes are acceptable and we have acknowledged that the war on terror is not against nation states wouldn't it make it acceptable to start popping these individuals?

I seriously doubt assassinating the more radical clerics before they gain a broad base of support would do anything to endear us to the average Iraqi citizen. More likely that would drive the less radical ones straight into the arms of the radicals

you are assuming that anything can endear us to the average iraqi citizen. and the less radical clerics? are you talking about the ones that have stepped forward to condemn the violence being perpetrated by non-iraqi arabs who you call insurgents? or the ones that haven't?

because if they aren't condemning them they are giving approval through their silence.

No, I am talking about the general populace. Start popping off their clerics and they are likely to resent their occupation even more.

I dont see that those clerics are acting criminally. I see them rousing resistance to foreign occupation. If my country was invaded and then occupied and a puppet government installed I would hope there might be at least some attempt on our part to resist that occupation. Just as the french resisted the German occupation, just as almost every occupied people have tried to resist.

Just because this time we are the occupiers does not make the occupiers the good guys.

First, why not start cleaning up around our own house?

Let's "pop-off" a few of our own crazy radical clerics first:

Pat Robertson
Jerry Falwell
Louis Farrakhan

Feel free to add the name of your most despised religious fanatic (or whoever doesn't agree with your world-beyond view) here:

i don't have a major problem with your list. not because of their religious beliefs, but because of their status as card carrying asshats. same as their arab brethren.

Although I have a really hard time considering my choice to be religious in any sense of the word, I would like to nominate Fred Phelps, Topeka psychotic "minister" who is well-known for tormenting the families of deceased AIDS victims at their funerals, among other things. I think dispatching Fred to whatever his personal vision of Heaven may be would benefit humanity in general.

They were popped off. Is that the pattern you're advocating?

i'm simply wondering why they didn't have the conviction or intestinal fortitude to stand up and inspire the people to fight against saddam and the boys who were raping, murdering, and robbing them blind. they seem to have saved all of their righteous indignation for the folks who fought and gave them the freedoms they now enjoy... freedoms such as the right to tell their people to fight us.
