Breast cancer help
Who doesn’t love boobs? I know I do
![]() We all know women, some of you are women, some of you even like women, and more specifically – women’s breasts. Unfortunately, most of us know someone that has had cancer and a lot of us know women (and men!) that have had breast cancer. In March 2003, my step-mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, they caught it very early and took care of it with a lumpectomy and a small run of radiation. She has been cancer free for over a year. She is very optimistic that it will not return, but there are no guarantees. My family has changed since this happened and my step-mom will never be the same. This sparked something in me. Even though she’s not a blood relative, it still greatly affects me. She’s a big part of my family and I have a 13 year old half sister that now lives in fear that she will one day go through the same thing. I’m not a doctor or scientist, but I needed to find something I could do to help fight this horrible disease. Last October I participated in my first Breast Cancer 3-Day and I’m getting ready to do it again! October 14-16, 2005 I am going to be walking 60-miles around beautiful San Diego, California, over the course of 3-days, for a cause devoted to helping women discover breast cancer early enough to beat it and committed to finally finding a cure. I’m not asking you to wear a ![]() ![]() I’m walk for my mom, my mother-in-law, my sisters, my grandmothers, my aunts, my cousins, my friends. And I walk for me. But I especially walk for my step-mom, Barbara – SHE IS A SURVIVOR. Every blister and muscle ache over the 3-days will remind me and encourage me to conquer this huge goal of 60-miles. According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me -- by supporting me in my fundraising efforts &/or joining me in the walk! So, yes, fellow Cellies, this is a plea for your emotional and financial support. If it is at all possible for you to ![]() When you’re ready, just follow this link to donate online. Donations will be accepted until September, so don’t feel obligated to do it today, just don’t forget! If it is easier for you to send in a check by mail, email me and I’ll send you a donation form to print out. We had an amazing time on the walk last year. I can only hope that this year will be as inspirational and just as much fun! ![]() Cindy Osterlind Walker #44334072 Long Beach Boobies! Team Captain P.S. – PLEASE forward this info to anyone and everyone who you think can help me with donations. I need all the help I can get! Thanks again! Breast cancer gets enough publicity. I'm putting the brown ribbon of prostate cancer awareness on my car.
(Last week it was March of Dimes for poli... no, birth def... no, premature babies. Next week it will be something else, autism or AIDS or psoriasis. At the end of the summer there's another breast cancer thing. I'm burned out by the whole disease-of-the-week thing And I'm an uncaring and unfeeling cuss to begin with. The line to sue me is over THERE ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------> ) (oh, yeah, and I have had relatives die of and survive cancer, so don't bother with the guilt trip about "well, if it was YOUR FITB, you wouldn't be so callous".) |

Thanks Chainsaw! I threw you a bone...sorry its a small one - just helped sponsor my dads walk up here last weekend - my stepmom and a good friend are survivors - I organize Denim Day in my office - if everyone does a little bit we can help a lot! Have a great walk - hope the rain clears up for you!

I met Mark Harmon at a camp ground in Big Sur right before the movie came out. He and some chick were singing and playing guitar around a camp fire. He was very cool even though I was a 10 year old starry eyed girl.

How could anyone, even Mark Harmon, be anything but nice to a ten year old girl?

Around that same age I met Corey Feldman. We were at a festival type concert for a radio station and he was walking down the isle toward the stage. My sister and I ran up to him to ask for a picture and autograph. He said "Can't you see I'm busy?!" and kept walking. I cried.
![]() ![]() I saw Corey at The Con last year. I wanted to say something to him, but I chickend out. ![]()

Mark Harmon was buddies w/ my boss from when I was a starry eyed teen - they used to come in for pizza & beer after baseball on weekends - very nice/down to earth. now when WASP came in after their tours......VERY different story. 14 yrs old, I'd have to stay until they decided they were done drinking - usually midnight or after....on a school night.........what a great job!
