I love the pic though...you have that pile of, whatever it's a pile of, then in the corner you have a vacuum cleaner peeking into the frame. As if to say "uh, let me know when you need me to go into action."

Two very short video clips from October show the living room as it should be. It is a little bit messier right now, but nothing like the calf-high refuse tip it was when I took the photo in January.

One clip is sat on (new) sofa and the other is with my back to the tv, looking back towards the door.

This was the day after I adopted the boys, so we were all very wary of eachother at that point. If I tried to film them now I'd have to film myself in a mirror - they're people cats that's for sure.

And yes, Shawnee, the hoover was a new addition to the room. It had been sat as useless and neglected as an old idol in my utility room for months - I think it was glad of the outing!

That's very impressive SG! I can testify to the benefits of having a clean house - it really does mean that you can sit and relax in it, instead of thinking "I ought to dust/hoover/sweep/clean ...". It is a major stressbuster for me .

I keep my cave pretty clean but am not obsessive about it. If I see the dog hair on the floor I'll vacuum and if I have the machine out I may as well vacuum the whole place. Then since there's no 'stuff' on the kitchen floor I'll mop it.
However, if something spills on the kitchen floor that needs to be mopped up, I want to vacuum first because I really hate mopping and getting lines of 'stuff' (and since I have the machine out I may as well-you get the idea) I just hate cleaning every Saturday morning just because it's Saturday. My mom made us do that and I refuse to be told what to do by a friggin calendar.

I am probably going to clean on Saturday just because I will have the time to do everything because I don't have work. That's more why I save that kind of stuff for the weekend. Now the kitchen (not including the floors) is a different story. I try to keep it clean all week long. I don't want to end up with any unwanted visitors.

No, I don't own one. My impression is that they do clean up crumbs and hair and dust on a hardwood floor, but won't replace actually cleaning your floors for real every once in a while. If you really have you heart set on getting one, but it isn't urgent, join woot.com. They seem to be sold about once every month or so for a pretty good price (relatively speaking.) There's alos lots of discussion at woot about their worth. Most seem to view them as a fun gadget.

Wow SG, I think it's great that you rescued those greyhounds from a life of racing. I think there should be more folks who are willing to stand up and be counted.

I am sitting here laughing my ass off because I read this post before your previous post and here was my line of action:

1) Thought "uh DUH...they're in the video"
2) Doubted myself and went back up to SG's post (still bypassing yours) and thought "see, it's right there in the text...whew.)
3) Read your post about greyhounds
4) Went BACK up to SG's post and to check for greyhounds I might have missed and though "whew."
5) Realized your joke after a few more seconds and guffawed.

The End

If you are interested in getting a Roomba, they are being sold today at Woot.com for less than you will find them anywhere else.
