Treated myself to a movie this afternoon. (Took a vacation day, it felt like I was playing hookie!)

Was in a theatre with 4 other individuals (The best way to see a film IMO).

It was pretty good, there were a few strange camera shots that I'm not so sure I would have included (One of them made me a bit dizzy), but all in all, it was beautifully constructed.

My favorite weapon was the flaming tumbleweeds......mighty handy!

It's a movie I'm going to be adding to my collection when it comes out - but I'd strongly suggest seeing it on the big screen if you get the chance.

And oh, of course, Brad Pitt was in it, and he looks HOT in leather and sweat, and Orlando Bloom, and Eric Banna, and, and and...

There was an excellent review of that film in the NewYorker. I wasnt going to see it.....I just didnt really see how Homer could work in movie form....But the reviewer seemed to think it worked. He raised an interesting question for me though.

Given how well Aramaic apparently worked in Mel Gibsons film, could Troy have been better done in ancient greek?

I think I might go see it after all. That's two positive reviews....and the point about Brad Pitt and the leather and sweat and stuff...

Haha nice one... I liked the movie because it was pretty accurate. Although I was with someone who never heard of the entire story...

Just saw it last night. I think it was well made, but it was tough to get empathetic with any of the main characters. The only true "Hero" was Hector. Priam was an old fool who wouldn't listen to wise counsel, Achilles seems like a spoiled brat who is never quite redeemed, Paris is a coward, and the women are all window dressing, waiting in anguish for their men to come back from fighting.

That said, those faults come from the text, not from the treatment.
