GTG idea
I see that on June 4-6, 2004, there will be a WW II recreated airfield complete with 70 aircraft including but not limited to a B-29, B-17, B-24, 3 B-25s and an ultra-rare P-38! Re-enactors and dioramas too! Rumour also has it that Gen Paul Tibbets (pilot of Enola Gay) will be there, as well as his navigator and Robert Morgan (pilot of Memphis Belle). This event will be held at Reading Regional Airport and is hosted by Mid Atlantic Air Museum.
I propose a GTG to enjoy the airplanes on either June 5 or 6 (Sat or Sun). Gates open at 9 am and the airshow portion begins at one pm. We can either meet there someplace at a given time, or meet elsewhere and go in as few cars as possible (due to gas crunch). I intend to be there one of those days even if I have to walk the whole way! Plthijnx, you are welcome to fly in...remember to show up a day early or you will be shot down! ![]() I will be taking pictures if no one else does and will post those that turn out to be identifiable! Brian

Okay, the weather report says rain all day tomorrow. So I'm moving my date to Sunday. Only because I hate riding my motorcycle in the rain. No wipers ya know. Otherwise I'd be there anyway, enjoying the lack of crowds and the chance to get up close with the pilots and planes and hangar-fly. Downside: no air portion
![]() Anyway, I'll see whoever comes near the P-38 on Sunday. Brian

Will NOONE be there other than me?
I guess not. It must just be my passion or that you all have a "life" and made other plans. Brian

Bruce, it wasn't raining in Reading...overcast yes raining no. The cloudbase was high enough that they even did the aerial portion of the show. No P-38 flyby though...
![]() I took two rolls of film...more than I have taken in the last ten years. I will get these developed soon after Forks...I hate to develope a partial roll. Soon after that, you may expect to see my amateurish attempts at photography posted in the Quality Images area. Had a good time, even though I snuck out early to beat the expected heavy traffic. Nothing beats the sound of four R-2800 engines spooling up for takeoff (Fifi) or the unmistakable rumble of a single R-2800 (Corsair) at full throttle doing a flyby! I kinda wish I had been earlier to catch the B-24 doing it's thing, but oh well! I arrived just as the B-17 was finishing it's performance. I could have gotten a flight deck tour of Fifi but I refused to wait in that long line. Had some good chats with the old vets, especially the sailors (go figger) and missed Paul Tibbets (RIP). They had a touching moment of silence for him. I got to talk to his navigator though...interesting to hear the story of the first A-bomb mission from one who was there. I'll never get another chance like that again! Brian
