Wow, that's a song title.

Ok, it's actually "All my exes live in Texas", but yours was damn close.

Interesting trivia I heard about Texans in Interpreters School: Texas is the only state where driving with an open container of booze in the car is not illegal. The Highway Patrol lobbied against that law because they would have had to arrest the entire state. It's a "time-honored tradition", according to them, that a man needs to open a cold one as he is driving the long road home after work.

(...or before work or during lunch break or during work or....)

In fact, there is a little known [to outsiders] law that if you are a Texas resident, traveling across at least 2 counties in Texas, you can legally carry a handgun in the passenger compartment of your vehicle without a concealed carry permit. You must immediately declare it if stopped by law enforcement; but, you won't be detained for the weapon possession.

Additionally, unlike some other states, Texas state history is emphasized in its school system. Natives of the state are taught that the term "Texan" came about in Hollywood westerns and stuck with the rest of the country. If you want to get in good with natives (especially older folks) of that state, use the official term that they were raised with - "Texian." Hollywood didn't like it; so, they changed it.

I lived in San Antonio for years and considered it my second home. These are a couple of noteworthy tidbits that I picked up from native friends.

absolutely NOT true. trust me. i got a ticket for it 6 months ago and the shitty part is that it had already been drank the day before! at my farm! i just put it in the pocket behind the seat instead of littering but the state trooper, bubba jorge, wrote me up for it anyway.

Of course. There are some Texans I like. I try to give people a fair shake but that does not change the general distaste harbored here, especially in more liberal areas.

That makes sense, it might get wet and dirty or fall out, of the bed.

Do y'all happen to know when they began to enforce that law then? I was told about that by a judge in 1995.
