rk, I'm not toying with you. Your statements were vague, and I'm simply asking that you specify.

Italian grandparents built a life on their own terms

In 1900 my grandparents came to this country from Italy. They entered legally through Ellis Island. No one changed the road signs to Italian. They did not receive any free medical benefits. They learned to speak English and did not demonstrate in the streets. They along with millions of other LEGAL immigrants were offered NOTHING but an opportunity for a better life.
They did it on their own with NO government giveaways. They must be rolling over in their graves because of the illegal immigrants taking over our country.

Illegal immigrants working in the US do not pay taxes.
Sure, if they buy some groceries, they may pay some on those, but not taxes on their pay, property etc, like legal Americans.
Living here illegally does not make you an American, even if it is for 20 years.
I know this, I paid one guy, under one SSI card, for twenty people's work, they lived in undocumented residences, bought as little as possible and sent every dime they could out of the country.
Every place I worked with illegals worked this way, agriculture, every form of construction, the distillery, etc.

Yes, there are illegal immigrants working in the U.S. who do not pay income taxes, just as there are those who do.

Here's an article from the NY Times which helps explain how they pay.

Here's IRS info about ITIN.

I'm curious about the guy you paid under one SS card--did the company not withhold taxes?

Sure, if they want to be US Citizens, most don't or they would be in the system and known to the IRS.

My examle is clear. Most come here to make money, send it home then leave.

From your article.

“I want to pay taxes because I live in this country and I like to follow the rules,” she said.

And how would she pay?

“Little by little,” she said.
If that was the case they would be entering the nation and working legally.

There's simply no way you can know for a fact that "most [illegal immigrants in the entire U.S.] don't" want to be U.S. citizens. But you're entitled to your viewpoint based on your experiences--if most of the immigrants you've worked with told you that they didn't want to be U.S. citizens, I'll take your word for it.

Many do enter legally with visas. For others to our south, the wait to enter legally is 10 years, because our immigrations system is too harsh and full of red tape--they can't make a living in their countries, and 10 years is too damn long to wait to feed their kids. Those with ITINs are working legally.

Their home country being screwed up is not our problem. They should be working to change their own system, not breaking the law here for a free ride.

Au contraire. The U.S. wouldn't exist if it weren't for 'home' countries being screwed up. Not only is it our 'problem,' as it always has been from the beginning, it's what's made us what we are.
