What Did Santa Claus Bring You?
We got a microwave, the latest Harry Potter movie, a lined sweat coat, 8 year old cheeze, groceries, and bath sheets.
What did you get?

A glass teapot and some blooming tea.
Season four of The Wire, to be delivered. Volume Three of the Absolute Sandman, to be delivered. A nice flannel shirt. Some nice bowls. A cloth carting-around-stuff bag. A chocolate orange. And a big pile of wood.

It was a po' Xmas for us this year, so Santa basically brought me nuthin' to speak of. However, I did receive Selene's late grandfather's 1944 Martin 0-18 parlor guitar. It is in need of some pretty serious restoration - a neck reset, possible bridge revision and refretting may go along with that. It is common in models of this age, especially when they've sat unused in closets for forty years or so...
Probably looking at $500-$600 to get it in playable condition, but it is both an heirloom and a damn cool instrument.

Out of all the items, this one is the most simple and by far the most enjoyable. The hammock packs down to the size of a softball and the moment I got back in town I took it to a quiet park on campus, strung it up between a tree and a bench, plopped down inside and spent half an afternoon just staring up through the hanging moss of the oak to the sky. The other half, staring at the back of my eyelids.

To Mrs. Dallas' distress, the token gift she ordered for me didn't arrive in time for Christmas.
The actual Christmas presents turned out to be living room furniture, a new car, and minivan repairs. |

Hmm...Long cardigan and wooly hat; gorgeous leather handbag and a new kit bag with big bold flower design for uni (college); a lovely figure hugging top which goes great with my skinny jeans; the obligatory dressing gown (much appreciated especially now whilst I have a bad cold ;P) new Terry Pratchett book and some other bits and bats. My nieces bought me a a leather collar for Pilau and a special lead to make walking him easier :P
The handbag and top were from D and now the sales are on he keeps turning up with little things ( a scarf, a pair of ankle boots) cause he's seen them in the sales and thought of me *big grin* I forgot how nice it is to be a little bit spoiled by a man Best thing Santa bought me of course is D...someone pinch me, its all going ridiculously well. I am in danger of becoming unbearably smug....whoops..too late. |

Favorites:
-Fuzzy sheepskin boots -A new camera (with video capabilities - woohoo!) -A PS3 -A spoon rest (Beautiful cobalt blue glass, shaped like a bottle. "Spoon rest" is definitely one of the stranger gifts I've gotten over the years, but it's such a relief not to have to grab small plates or towels to put my cooking spoons on anymore!) |
