FitBit Flex

I'm thinking about getting one of these for Mr. Clod for Father's Day. I think the mass data collection will appeal to him. Anyone have one? Are they overhyped, or a useful gadget for someone who wants to exercise but doesn't have a lot of time or motivation?

want.

dovetails with MyFitnessPal which I use on my phone and I like. the main benefit of the fitbit would be the honest / accurate collection of movement during the day (and night) . now I only estimate the cardiovascular in MFP.

I can't find one anywhere. The shortest backorder time I can find is six weeks.

I have a regular Fitbit and I'm super active. I love it. It helps quantify my activity when I'm not doing focused exercise. Though it is cool to go on a twenty mile run and then look at the metrics. Especially the stair counter.

I prefer it to the Flex style trackers because I can clip it wherever is convenient. I'm not a big fan of wrist bands.

Are the regular Fitbits exactly the same, they just clip somewhere instead of going on your wrist?

Yeah. The one I have is the Ultra, now discontinued. It's analog is the Fitbit One. They are both the initial style that Fitbit launched with.

I didn't realize the Flex was waterproof, which could be a killer feature as I've killed my Ultra once by sweating on it. Apparently the One doesn't have that failure mode:

Now I'm tempted to upgrade.
