I'm afraid I'm prejudiced against Unreal. I bought the first game, played it single-player, enjoyed it, although I admit I never quite finished it, and then tried to play it on-line.
OMG. Pings of minute or more! Totally unplayable, and the company had been clueless to that before it was released, because they apparently never tested it except on a LAN. It was even a pig on a T1 line. I never bought Tourney. Just bigotry. People tell me it's good.

Did you read of the Everquest feud between Curt Schilling and Doug Glanville? When Glanville hit two home runs off Schilling a few months ago, he told ESPN it was because Schilling killed a character of his.

Yes, I saw that. It was great! It made me all nostalgic, because I've been there. I was a dwarven cleric, and spent untold hours in the Butcherblock mountains, grouped with dwarven paladins, elven sorcerors from north in Greater Faydark, and the like, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to both deal with the 'dangers' of the game, and how to get along with the idiosyncrasies of the other players. In a group-oriented game like Everquest, conflicts between duty to one's group and self-preservation, like the one between Schilling and Glanville, come up all the time.
