I had a whole red onion at lunch.

I hadn't realised I already had onions last time I went shopping, so I bought another 3. Panicked by the fact I was becoming over-run with them I decided to use one of Nigella's tricks and soak the chopped onion overnight in lime juice. This made them crunchy and tasty without any of the "burn" you get when you eat them raw.

So I had cracked wheat, smoked salmon (trimmings, £1.18 a pack), red onion, sweetcorn with a lime and garlic dressing. And I don't smell of onions! Just garlic.
