Hi, there! Nice to meet you, too!
![]() Sadly, this is a step up. I hail from Kentucky. ![]() Why, thank you very much! ![]() Quote:
The homeschooling plan came from several schools of thought. 1) I used to work for a school supply catalog which sold (mostly) to school boards and teachers. I spent entirely too much time explaining and reexplaining simple concepts to these so-called "educators" day after day. I learned it didn't matter what area of the US the call originated, I was going to be dealing with morons 90% of my day. It was sometime during my employment there when I decided that if I ever had children I would teach them myself - at least until they were old enough to think critically and research on their own. 2) I am a stay at home mom. Since Elias (my son) was an only child for nearly 5 years, I didn't have much to do except play with him. I just couldn't see always having mindless playtime, so we began to play color, shape, then letter games. As it is, he's been reading for almost a year, he can add and subtract single digit numbers, and he's more than capable of doing most anything a 1st grader can do. The only problem is, he's not old enough to go to school 'til this coming fall. I can't send my very active little boy to school now because he will be bored. Boredom for him leads to being silly, loud, and generally disruptive. I have no desire to start him on the road to being the "bad kid." 3) Maybe I can get him to pass the Bar Exam by the time he's 18, then he can support ME! ![]() ![]() I do plan to let him go to school around 5th or 6th grade if he wants... unless I can find a private school that is cheap and will meet his needs. I doubt that's gonna happen, though. ![]() Ah, yes... roleplaying. Who said we don't wear brightly colored latex suits?! I thought everyone who owned polyhedral dice owned at least a whip... Geez. What kind of freaks have I found here?! ![]() It's pretty difficult to find gamers worth the time nowadays. Most people will perk up when you ask if they're a gamer, then they'll tell you all about their WoW character. *deep sigh* Mostly, we sift through gamer friends to find someone who is available to game... and willing. Our gaming group is up to a WHOPPING three players, now! It quality, not quantity, though... right? ![]() Geez. I should get paid by the word. ![]() |
