Been in New Orleans for a few days and checked out one of the old cemeteries. Then I went to the Chalmette National Battlefield and Cemetery where the battle that ended the War of 1812 happened.

USCT stands for US Colored Troops who were free men of color as they refer to them. Maybe this guy was born in January???

From about 1864 to 1966 a small black community thrived there but the US parks department forced them to sell their land for the park with the help of the local politician who wanted to lower the power of black voters by removing them. So where did they go? The Ninth Ward. Sucks...
