VGA can support resolutions up to 640 x 480 in 16 colors, although you can increase the colors to 256 by lowering the resolution to 320 x 200. Maybe true for the original spec, but modern VGA ports and cables can support resolutions at and above 1080p, though it's analog, and will not be a pixel-perfect image.
